From:

Another fabulous night !!!

I started out the night in backed up traffic. Took me twice as long to get to the music store than normal, but I left early so I still got there 50 minutes before the clinic started.

He played about five or six songs and took questions from the audience. Signed a 10 year old boys guitar on stage, and asked him if he would like to play something for all of us. He said he had just started playing and didn't feel comfortable enough to play anything.

The PA system was picking up a country station, so we had Phil and Country at the same time.

Phil had his Olson and the Line 6 DL-4 Delay during this show. He talked about the pickups on the guitar and that he had two pickup systems on it, LR Baggs and something else that I didn't catch the name of. He said he uses the LR Baggs Duet system, not Duet II and mentioned that a recent article miss quoted him saying that he used the Duet II. He said his Olson was the first one made with a Cedar top. He said he owns a Taylor 514ce......I think that was the model, and commented that it was a great guitar, and that it was on loan. He said his favorite guitar is his Les Paul, and that he sold it to a collector in South Carolina that promised he would not sell it and would keep it in case Phil wanted to buy it back; of course he bought it back. He talked about his capos and how he notched them. He mentioned recording a part for Kerry's new project, that he did right after the Kansas show on Saturday Nov 10th. He demonstrated the Line 6 Delay and showed how you could speed things up, slow things down, reverse things, and a few other things. He said it has a 14 second loop that could be changed to 28 seconds by pushing a button somewhere on the unit.

Now for the songs I can remember:

Paka
As It Is In Heaven (New from In The Quiet Hours, it is a new
tuning for him.)
Shades of Green
Another instrumental from , I think, Master and the Musician
Two other songs......don't remember the names

While playing, he accidentally stuck his finger with the B string at the tuners. ( Ouch ! ) He commented, " that's what I get for showing off "

Now for the second night of Glass Harp.

Phil had a hard time with the first song they played, especially where he had to bend the string to the other side of the neck. This all came about from, yeah, the finger sticking in the clinic. After the first song he seemed to be back to a normal Phil. This night was different than the first night. I don't know if it was a good nights sleep or what ? They were willing to walk out on the edge and play stuff that was un-rehearsed, some of which were not their tunes. Because of this I will not be able to recall the song list that well, so bare with me. ( Bill and Jean, HELP! ) At this show I was not up front, since I went to the clinic first. Most of the seats were taken. Basically I was sitting about 6 seats back from where Jeff and I were on the first night. Actually you would think of this seat as a front seat at most large concerts, however.

I did get to talk to Bill and Jean Amey, before the show, at the break, and after the show. What a nice a joyful couple you folks are. I was happy to meet you both.

Some of the songs they played are: ( I thought most all the songs on the second night had longer and more interesting lead solos )

Funk 49
Old Elvis tune
Presence of the Lord
Garden (This one I request from the audience. There was silence in the
room for a few seconds, then Phil said , "yeah lets give that one a try, we usually do that one on an acoustic guitar but lets see how it comes out" Daniel ask , "who ask for that". I didn't say anything, since I knew he couldn't see me. Thanks guys.....that's another favorite of mine, and it sounded outstanding on the Fly!

Everlasting Light
Our Towers
Can You See Me......but not near as good as the first night, nor as long as the first night.
David & Goliath, Going Home, Do Lord
Chalice
Inseparable
From the Beginning
Look in the Sky
Never Is A Long Time
Today is your Birthday.......for a girl in the audience, and the birthday song too.....where we all sang together.
Another drum solo from John ........ didn't seem as long as the first night, but still very outstanding work.

Played a couple of songs with Eddie Pecchio, Daniel's brother, doing bass and vocals. ( both Daniel and Eddie did vocals on one song while Eddie played bass.) What a bass player and vocals too!!! ( Bill & Jean, do you remember what the songs are ?)

I know there were other songs, but I can't remember them. Bill or Jean, do you remember anything else that I missed here ?

Phil never came out after the show this time. I think there were relatives at the show and he was busy talking with them, so I left. Bill, did Phil finally come out ? Did you get his autograph ?
